My art career began very early with several spectacularly colorful murals adorning the walls of my childhood home. Ascertaining that my artistic tendencies could not be fully realized in the "crayon on drywall" medium, my long-suffering parents eventually encouraged me to switch to "paint on canvas". In retrospect, I feel that this change has served me well through the years.
For me, painting is about enjoyment, both the joy of the creative process and the pleasure of viewing a well crafted painting. However, I do not create simply for the sake of art; I am also trying to craft a series of windows that will allow others a glimpse of the land of mayhem and wonder that exists inside my mind. I hone my craft and train my hand and eye because these are the only tools I possess which are capable of building these mental portholes.
My inspirations include paintings of the Late-Renaissance and Baroque, comic books, Japanese animation, cartoons, toys, antique sewing machines, classic monster movies, old pulp fiction novels (the stories themselves, as well as the cover art), American roots music, coffee, and the dry, dusty land of the Mojave desert.
Welcome to the world in my mind.
